Liberty Seminars

ORGANIZER and PARTNERS

The Liberty Seminars are organized by Društvo Svetilnik (Lighthouse Association) in partnership with the Institute of Economic Affairs from the United Kingdom and the Cato Institute from the United States.

PERFECT FOR

The Liberty Seminars are open to individuals of all ages and all backgrounds, but with one common thing: a passion for liberty.

HISTORY

The Liberty Seminars were launched in 2008, when only one seminar (Liberty Camp) was organized. A year later, a second seminar was added to the project. The 7th annual Liberty Seminars will included two seminars, both to be held September 22-27, 2014.

TWO SEMINARS TO CHOOSE FROM

1. Liberty Camp is a week-long seminar that actively explores the historical, philosophical and economic foundations of a free society through engaging lectures, small group discussions, movie screenings, participants' debates and participants' presentations. In an intellectually stimulating environment, the participants develop a deeper understanding of today's challenges, while enlightening a range of issues, including the origins, meaning and theories of individual civil and economic liberties; the rule of law and property rights in a free society; and government's powers and its proper limitations. This seminar is mostly attended by high school and college students.
2. Liberty Academy is a week-long seminar dedicated to the advanced study of liberty. Debates, lectures, presentations and discussions take the participants beyond the basic principles of a free society. During the seminar, intellectually curious individuals apply insights to the range of issues, including economic and political institutions, the rule of law, markets and morality, corruption and public sector transparency, and economic development. This seminar is mostly attended by graduate students and young professionals.
